Overview #
Creates a new process map for the data.
Common Uses #
- To visualize the process flow of your data.
- To explore the different variations of your process flow.
Settings #
By default, the calculator selects top 5 variants from your log and visualizes them. To change this number, click on three dots in the upper right corner of the calculator and click ‘Edit’.

Edit the ‘Default Top Variant Selection Count’ to the preferred number.

Examples #
Count View (default) #
By default, you will see a process map that shows the flow of the Top 5 variants in your log. Here we adjusted it to Top 10:

Process Shapes #
- Purple ovals: they represent specific activities.
- The percentage and the number inside it represent the percent and total number of cases that performed this activity.
- Arrows: they show the directional flow from one activity to the other.
- The number on the arrow represents the number of cases that took this path.
- The thicker the line, the more cases took the path.
- Red arrows represent the process flows that are out of the ordinary, shouldn’t have happened.
- The number on the arrow represents the number of cases that took this path.
Process Complexity #
Adjust the complexity slider if the map is too complex (has too many paths between activities). By lowering the complexity percent, you will see more infrequent paths between activities.
Process Details #
Click on any activity to see its details. For instance, here are the details of the ‘Due Date Missed’ activity:

From here, you can filter cases to create a new process map. For instance, select ‘without’ to show a process map for cases without the selected activity or select ‘starts with’ to show process map for cases which started with the selected activity.

The filter you choose will be added as a filter block before the Process Map calculator.

Performance View #
In the top-left hand corner, click on the performance icon. The process map will change slightly to show the average number of minutes, hours, or days between activities instead of showing the count of cases that took the path.

You may change the metric of the performance, by selecting a different value from the drop down. For example, you may want to see the minimum or maximum days between activities.
